Sheet Metal Team Leader (Helicopter)

Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise a team of sheet metal technicians in performing repair, modification, and fabrication work on helicopter airframes, components, and structures.

• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals to plan and execute sheet metal repair and fabrication tasks accurately and efficiently.

• Coordinate with other maintenance departments, such as avionics, powerplant, and rotor systems, to ensure seamless integration of sheet metal work with overall maintenance activities.

• Assess damage and deterioration to helicopter sheet metal components.

• Perform sheet metal fabrication tasks, including cutting, bending, forming, and welding operations, to manufacture replacement parts and components as needed.

• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.

• Maintain accurate records of sheet metal repair and fabrication activities, including work orders, parts usage, and hours spent on each task, to facilitate tracking and reporting.

• Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to sheet metal technicians to develop their skills, knowledge, and proficiency in performing sheet metal work.

• Collaborate with quality assurance and inspection personnel to conduct final inspection.

• Continuously monitor and evaluate workflow, productivity, and resource allocation to optimize efficiency and meet project deadlines.

• Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements.

Requirements:

• Hold a valid and current GACA or equivalently ICAO recognized license.

• Hold a type rating in AW139 or H145 performed in an international approved training organization.

• Strong knowledge of sheet metal materials, fabrication techniques, and repair processes specific to helicopter airframes and components.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals related to sheet metal work.

• Experience with sheet metal fabrication equipment and tools, including shears, brakes, rollers, and welding machines.

• Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and mentor team members to achieve performance goals.

• Leadership: Strong leadership abilities to effectively lead and supervise a team of sheet metal technicians.

• Sheet Metal Expertise: In-depth knowledge and experience in sheet metal repair, fabrication, and installation techniques.

• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals related to sheet metal work, as well as operating sheet metal fabrication equipment and tools.

• Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex sheet metal issues, develop effective solutions. 

• Safety Compliance: Thorough understanding of safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.

• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey instructions.
